Dr. Christopher Riolo obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

He completed his orthodontic training and received his Speciality Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Dr. Riolo also has a PhD in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.  Dr Riolo currently  teaches in the orthodontic department at the University of Washington as an  affiliate assistant professor.

Mina and banu

Dr Riolo and his wife Burcu have two girls Mina and Banu and 5 and 3 years respectively.

Dr Riolo believes that the knowledge necessary to create beautiful smiles is gained through a combination of education, practical experience, and dedication to lifelong learning. Dr Riolo is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. Nationally, only one-third of the orthodontists in the United States are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also a member of the following organizations:

  • American Association of Orthodontists
  • American Board of Orthodontics
  • The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics
  • American Lingual Orthodontics Association
  • Michigan Association of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association
  • Washington State Dental Association

Dr. Riolo has been married to his wife, Burcu for 10 years. They have two girls Mina and Banu ages 7 and 5.  Dr Riolo has been a pilot since high school and enjoys flying, sailing and skiing in his spare time. Dr. Riolo's wife Burcu Bayirli also an orthodontist.  Dr. Bayirli graduated from the University of Michigan's graduate orthodontic program.  Dr Bayirli obtained a PhD in Public Health from the University of  Michigan and has spent the last 10 years as a full time academic, teaching orthodontics and involved in research.  While at the University of detroit Mercy, Dr Bayirli maintained a faculty orthodontic practice; Dr Bayirli is currently an affiliate associate professor at the University of Washington's School of Dentistry in the department of Orthodontics where she teaches 2 days a week.

That is impressive that you are a dentist, have a family, and a pilot also! Sounds like you lead quite the life.
