Dr Bayirli

As of January 2012, Burcu Bayirli will be part of our team at Riolo Orthodontics.  She attended the 2011 Incognito users meeting and is excited not only to join our office but also becoming one of our newest patients!

Dr Bayirli was born in Istanbul.  She attended American Academy for Girls for middle  and high school.  Burcu  graduated from this school being very competent in Science, Math, and English.  Dr Bayirli then attended Istanbul University, School of Dentistry and graduated in 1993.  During the last years of dental school, she became  very interested in Orthodontics and decided to pursue a MS degree in Orthodontics in the United States.  Two weeks after her dental school graduation, she was in Ann Arbor starting graduate  program in orthodontics at the University of Michigan Dental School.  After getting her MS degree in Orthodontics in 1996.  Dr Bayirli decided to pursue her interest in research and teaching so she decided to  enrolled in the PhD program in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health.  As she was finishing her PhD, Dr Bayirli was  offered a full time position teaching at University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor in the department of  Orthodontics.

In 2006, Dr Bayirli and Dr Riolo had their first child  Mina;  a few months after her birth,  Dr Bayirli was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.  Their younger daughter, Banu, was born in 2007.  Although Burcu loved her job and Ann Arbor where she had lived for 19 years, she missed the excitement of a larger city.   Both Burcu and Chris  wanted to raise their children in the pacific northwest and in a city with more opportunities for skiing and sailing and therefore they  that we decided to move to Seattle!
